In the past, those who wanted to learn the sign language often did so from textbooks. These, however, prevented the students from acquiring the sign movements properly due to not being descriptive enough. That is why we have chosen to design a series of interactive CD-ROMs containg video sequences of some basic signs which have been organized into various thematic units. The CD-ROMs are meant not only for the deaf, but also for the general public. That is also the reason why we have decided on an amusing form of the course and involving celebrities in it. Gradually, we would like to produce five CDs (depending on your interest and our finacial potential) or, possibly, even more. Here are the first of them:

Processor 133 MHz or higher, 16MB RAM, 16-bit color resolution (800 x 600), sound card (SB-compatible), Windows 95/98/SE, ME, 2000, XP Home Edition or Professional with DirectX and Active Movie installed. The general rule: the faster the computer, the faster and more fluent the learning process. Each of the CDs supports autorun (inserting it into a CD-ROM is good enough to make it run, no instalation required).

We have finished a functional demo of the sign language course on a DVD which can be used in both DVD players and PCs equipped with a DVD drive. The full version (made provided there is enough interest) is going to contain the signs making up the sign language course CD-ROMs including interactive menus, top-quality whole-screen sequences (full PAL from a 3x CCD camera) and special bonuses (e.g. other dialogues, examples of how the sequences were shot, special effects etc).
